それはとても意外な一作。当時、三上博史はその映画に出ることを頑なに拒んだ。が、世界観を変えられた。目からウロコが落ちたという意味ではなく、世界の不思議さを知らされた。タイトルは『私をスキーに連れてって』。
　
「僕の住んでいた小さな四畳半のアパートに“台本を投げる壁”があったんです（笑）。もらった台本読んじゃそこにバーンと投げ、“こんなもん!”と思ってたんですが、当時のマネージャーがこの作品に関してだけ“一生のお願いだからやって”って。彼女の真意がわからなくて、投げた台本拾って読み直してみてもわからなくて…でも、“当たる”って、そういうことなんですよね。男の僕には分析できなかったけれど、彼女には直感が働いたようなんです。僕は正直、“そんなのいいよ、投げといたって。次のチャンスがあるよ”って思ってたんだけど、これがどうなるかわからない…」
　
映画は大ヒット。続々とオファーが舞い込み、俳優として一本立ちすることになる。ここから、先の“トレンディドラマ時代”が始まったのだ。何より大きかったのは「自分だけではわからないことがある」ことの実感。台本を読み、アルケミスト的感覚を働かせながらも、どこかに「わからない」という気持ちを抱いて作品を選ぶ。
